We collect as little data as possible, and only to reply to you. Here we explain what we collect, why, and what your rights are, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).
1. Data controller
- Owner: We are Sorensen SL (hereinafter, «Sorensen AI»)
- Tax ID (NIF): B19968528
- Registered address: Badajoz 38, 08018 Barcelona, Spain
- Email: [email protected]
- Registry details: registered with the Barcelona Commercial Registry (Registro Mercantil de Barcelona), sheet B-621038, folio 1, entry 1. IRUS 1000427577895.
2. What data we process
- Contact form: the name, email address and message you send us.
- Emails: any data you send us if you write to us directly.
- Technical data: the server that hosts the website keeps technical logs (such as your IP address) for security purposes.
To know how many visits the website gets we use Cloudflare's traffic statistics; Cloudflare is the service the website goes through to be served faster and protected. They are calculated on its servers from the requests they receive, with no script or cookie in your browser, and we only see aggregate figures (visits, country, browser type). We do not use in-browser analytics tools or advertising cookies.
On the error page (404) you can turn on your microphone to blow on the fire. The audio is analysed only in your browser to detect blowing: it is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere. It only turns on if you ask for it, and it switches off when the fire lights up or when you leave the page.
In the online translator and spell checker, the texts you enter are sent to our server only to translate or check them, and they are not stored: neither the texts nor the results. For each use we only keep technical data with no text: the date, the tool, the languages, the variant, the number of characters, the response time, errors, and how many corrections of each kind were suggested and which ones you accepted or ignored. Instead of your IP address we keep a code (hash) that changes every day and cannot be turned back into it. To prevent abuse, the server also keeps your IP address in memory for one hour at most, and the web server's technical logs (IP address, date and requested address, never the text) are kept for 14 days.
If you tick “Let this text be used, anonymised, to improve public Catalan language models”, or say yes when we ask, we keep the text, the result and, if you copy it, the final version, after removing email addresses, phone numbers, web addresses, ID numbers and IBANs. These texts may become part of a public corpus under a CC BY licence, which we will publish on Hugging Face, to train and evaluate Catalan language models (such as those of Projecte AINA). The box is unticked by default and the legal basis is your consent: you can withdraw it at any time by unticking it, and you can write to us to have texts not yet published deleted.
If you request a file translation, we use the file and your email address only to send it back to you translated, and we keep no copy. To protect the tools from bots we use Cloudflare Turnstile (see the cookie policy).
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiries and, if you ask, prepare a proposal for you.
- To let you know when Escalf is available for your platform, if you have asked us to.
- To keep the website secure.
We do not make automated decisions or build profiles with your data.
4. Legal basis
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): when you contact us on your own initiative.
- Pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): when you ask us about our plans.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): for the security of the website.
5. How long we keep it
For as long as needed to handle your enquiry and then for 30 days, unless a business relationship or a legal obligation requires us to keep it longer. Server technical logs are deleted after 14 days.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell or share your data. Only the providers that deliver services to us can access it, under a data processing agreement:
- Web hosting: OVH.
- Email: Resend.
In addition, if you play the demo video, your browser connects to YouTube, a Google service that may process your IP address outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The video does not load until you click it. The rest of the website, fonts included, is served from our own server.
7. Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability, and withdraw your consent, at any time by writing to [email protected]. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
8. Language
This is a translation of the Catalan original, provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Catalan version prevails.
